ESSAY CONTEST
High school students sophomore level and above were invited to enter the annual Optimist International Essay Contest sponsored by a local Optimist Club. The winner was then entered in a Zone competition, to determine who would be entered at the District level, where the top prize is an all-expense-paid trip to the nationally recognized Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.
From the 52 district winners, three international winners are chosen. First prize is a $5,000 scholarship from the Optimist International Foundation; the second and third place winners receive scholarships of $3,000 and $2,000 respectively.
