HONOR CLUB

Honor Club status should be considered your standard of achievement. Any club can achieve Honor Club by completing requirements in three important areas of club activity: SERVICE, MEMBERSHIP and LEADERSHIP.

SERVICE

Complete 3 or more youth or community service projects

REPORTS

Submit the Officer-Elect report by May 20

Submit the Annual Activities Report by October 10

MEMBERSHIP

Fulfill certain growth requirements

DISTRICT MEETINGS

The President or a designee must attend at least 75% of all district meetings

FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS

Pay all financial obligations to the district and to Optimist International

COMMUNITY PROJECTS AWARDS COMPETITION

Club must enter at least one project in the District Community Projects Awards Competition. Entries must be received by the District no later than September 30, and district certification of all entries must be received in the International Office postmarked no later than October 20, 2001. Each club participating in a Multi-Club project must include with its entry to the district, on club letterhead, a statement of its level of participation on the project before credit will be given. Official entry books are available from Shumsky Enterprises or the Optimist International Canadian Service Centre.

OUTSTANDING MEMBER RECOGNITION

The club is required to recognize one of its members for his/her outstanding service and dedication to Optimism. The member is to be honored before the other members of the club during a regular or special meeting. The club may wish to present, but is not limited to, one of the following options: a Life Membership, an International President’s Recognition Award, President’s Citation or an Optimist of the Year Award. The club is responsible for designing their exclusive recognition program. To fulfill the Honor Club requirements, the club must certify that this accolade was completed by remitting the "Award Certification Document" (available through the Recognitions Department) signed by both the President of the club and a District Officer (Lt. Governor or Governor). The signed Award Certification Document must be sent to the Recognitions Department, postmarked no later than September 30, 2002.

All dates refer to the 2001-2002 administrative year, which runs from October 1, 2001 to September 30, 2002.

Any reference to postmarked materials requires a postmark from an official postal office.

The president of an Honor Club will earn a name/year patch and a certificate which are sent to the district for presentation. In addition the Honor Club President will receive an Honor President lapel pin.
